Today we speak to established cake house exhibitor Fiona Edwards…
I am in the process of creating an exciting new range of kiddies’ coats. Here is the early laying out stages of a couple that I am working on.
Unfortunately I’m getting a little over- enthusiastic and starting lots without finishing the others, but I hope to have a few up and ready for our opening weekend and more will be added as the month progresses.
I will have my usual display of mirrors including a Frida Khalo, Squashed Faeries, Josephine sings the blues, and more.
Today we welcome back Cake House regular Helen Pritchard, she’ll be back with her wonderful creations, this year using vintage textiles. Find out more…
“As usual I’ve been working with vintage textiles-I’m a bit obsessed! Latest love is collecting needlepoint. They work so well made into cushions. My favourite though is the machinists’ chair upholstered in floral needlepoint. The contrast between the materials somehow really works. What do you all think?
I’ve also made tons of tassels to be used on whatever takes your fancy. I’ve been using them for my keys and on my bag. They are really tactile and look really glamourous.
The last thing I am putting together is a standard lamp. I’ll leave that as a surprise….!”
Today we welcome back Claire of Cat-a-Cake Creations. Claire has been a regular at The Cake House since 2011 and looks forward to being part of it again! Find out more…

I am a Brighton based mother of two, but grew up in Manchester.
I began LittlePapa by hand drawing designs for children’s t-shirts with a view to sell at craft fairs around Brighton while my children were small. I then began making tiny beach huts and gingerbread houses from pine and oak with hand made clay sweets and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to branch out into wooden handmade products. Being interested in laser cutting, I joined up to a local communal workshop and got trained on a laser cutter and found that the possibilities were endless! I am loving coming up with new and seasonal ideas and bringing them to life. I prefer to work with birch and I love hand painting the finished product. I am currently selling my framed artwork on Brighton seafront, as well as the craft fairs around the city which I adore doing, I love talking to customers about my products face to face.
